Driving hampshire instructor

I offer driving lessons in the Hampshire and Wiltshire area, my original client base is located within Salisbury. I am now based in Hythe which is just outside of Southampton, this allows me to offer my services in Southampton and the surrounding area.

My driving lessons are structured with the overall focus of passing your final examination. Generally, the examination test centres are located within the city centre. So to gain maximum experience, most lessons are carried out within the city once pupils are confident with handling the car.

If you live quite a distance from the city where you will take your examination, it is more cost effective if you arrange your own transport to the city centre, and then arrange for your driving instructor to pick you up.

Southampton is a great area to teach and learn to drive, it has a wide range of road systems that provide opportunities to gain excellent experience for your test. I encourage my pupils to spend as much time as possible within the areas covered by the test routes taken on the final examination.

Driving lessons can be taught in many different styles and methods, I have always found the larger the organisation, the less flexible they are.

I am an independent driving instructor, so I have total freedom to teach my lessons to suit each specific individual. Some pupils struggle with certain areas of driving and I support them to develop their skills so weaknesses become strengths.

Learning to drive is a mainly practical skill, as with all acquired skills you need to get time to practice. Practice makes perfect, and with my supervision and guidance you’ll quickly progress until you are ready for your test.

Driving lessons Southampton

If you are wanting to learn to drive in Southampton, then it will mean that your local driving test centre will be located in Green Lane. All your training and practice which builds up to your final test should be focused around the driving test routes which are followed by the examiners at the Green lane test centre. The test routes take into account specific roundabouts, manoeuvre areas and popular busy roads which cover many potential hazards.

I have worked as a driving instructor for the last 16 years and have a very good understanding of what the examiners will grade as good and negative points throughout the final test.

Southampton city centre can get quite busy at times, it’s a large city. Once you can drive in Southampton, you will be able to drive in most large city’s with confidence.

I stay calm and relaxed at all times when working with my pupils. At times where I have aided pupils to avoid potential dangerous situations, I often receive feedback commending me on my quick, calm and efficient techniques.

I am an independent driving instructor, this gives me full flexibility to suit my training to your requirements. One benefit is that I choose the car which I feel is best for teaching people to drive. I have used VW Golf for the past Five years. I find it a consistently reliable, safe and comfortable car, they are easy to drive with great seat and steering adjustment to fit almost anyone.

Trailer Driving Lessons

When you pass your driving test, you receive a “B Class” driving licence. This allows you to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tones. If you wish to tow a trailer (over 0.75 tonnes) or Caravan then it depends on when you passed your driving test. If you passed your test before 1st January 1997 then you have “grandfather rights” which allow you to tow trailers and caravans.

If not, you need passed your trailer test (B+E Class). This will then allow you to tow a trailer (over 0.75 tonnes) or a Caravan.

Record Low - But More Can Still Be Done
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents today welcomed the news that the number of deaths on Britain’s roads had fallen below 3,000 for the first time since records began more than 80 years ago.
The seven per cent fall in roads deaths in 2007 to 2,943 was wonderful news Kevin Clinton, Head of Road Safety at RoSPA, said. But he warned there was no room for complacency.

Road deaths peaked in 1941 when 9,169 people were killed and began to rise again in the 1960s with 7,985 people dying in 1966. When data was first published in 1926 there were 4,886 people killed.
“The progress we have made since then is a tribute to road safety professionals working in local authorities and the police forces, and shows the value of having long-term, government-led road safety strategies. Technological advances in the motor industry have also played a very significant role,” Kevin Clinton said.

“It is encouraging to see that child casualties are down seven per cent and child deaths down by 28 per cent to 121.
“The number of pedal cyclists and motorcyclists killed also fell. But it is worrying to see increases in deaths among adult cyclists and in serious injuries among child cyclists. This shows the need for the new investment of £140million announced earlier this year to make the roads safer for cyclists and for cyclist training.

“Although motorcyclist deaths fell slightly, the number seriously injured rose. We still need to see improvements in motorcycle training and riders need to develop skills and experience if they are riding more powerful machines.

“Drivers too can benefit from refresher driver training which can iron out bad habits they may have unwittingly developed over the years. RoSPA offers driving assessments and helps many people to become safer road users through RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders groups.

“We hope the Government’s review of the driver training and testing regime will bring even more improvements to address the high risk group of young and inexperienced drivers. “Measures such as reducing the drink-drive limit and changing our clocks to bring us lighter evenings all-year-round would also have a major impact on reducing deaths and injuries.”
